Best jet kit for a '04 Blaster? Dial-a-jet?
#1
Any recommendations on the best jet kit for an '04 Blaster?
I've looked at the FMF and K&N jet kits, there isn't a big price difference, so I just want to buy the best one.
Also, what's the difference with the Dial-a-jet and other jet kits? Would I have better results with that?

IT doesnt really matter what jet kit you get as long as you are jetted correctly..isnt the dial a jet the one where you can tune your getting on the outside of the carb??I guess the main diffrence is that you can fine tune your jetting externally to get it perfect......

The dial jet is a pretty cool thing, you can tune your bike from the outside of the carb, but the kit is kinda hard to install listen to ernie and call vitos before getting anything.

We've had some bad luck with dial-a-jets around here. They don't accept the drastic changes in temp and humidity we experience. I prefer the K&N jet kit and then if need be, u can pull the top of the carbs and adjust the needle clip or air screws for fine-tuning.

Sounds to me like your carb jetting is still too rich. I ride from desert to snow, sea level to 9000 feet with no problem. The Dial-A-Jet requires a lean condition to do it's thing. It was designed for snowmobiles to compensate for temp ,humidity , and altitude changes.

I was never a big fan of "cure all jet kits" ....when I buy a machine, I also purchase a good selection of jets for the bike (usually main/pilot)
You will find it beneficial to do some reading like this http://www.howstuffworks.com/question377.htm(of course there are 100's of documents like this out there)
then experiment with different jet arrangements to get things right.....once you understand what is actually going on inside a carb..the tuning part becomes second nature.
