One of the knocks alot of people say about the Raptor is that its "tippy" with a high center of balance. What do those of you that have solved this suggest for mods?
On a second note what do people think about the stock tires that come on the Raptor?

The durablue 2 + 2 gives you the choice of 2 inches or 4 inches wider... which one did you choose? seems like the 4 inches might be a little extreme but just wanted to know what people set theirs at.
I priced A-arms and at 470 bucks (rockymountainatv.com armadillo extended a-arms) that seems incredibly high... not to mention I speculate thats just for one side (or do A-arms come with all 4 arms for both sides?).

I have heard good shocks make a tremendous difference, I'll find out when my (New to me) used Custom Axis shocks get here this week. I found that even if you don't go wider up front right away do the back first and it'll be ok til the fronts done. I used rear wheel spacers on mine and they work great.

lowbowtie, I also had spacers on my raptor. The problem occurred when my bearing were destroyed because of the extra stress on them from the spacers. I had to replace the rotor, brake pads, sprocket, axle, bearings, housing and carrier. 1,300.00 later, everything is fixed. Fortunately my insurance is footing the bill. Good insurance huh !!! I told the mechanic to put on the durablue axle since I needed a new one anyhow. I wish I would have done that first.
As for the dunlop tires, they are garbage !!! go with razors, maxxis or some similiar brand. The 2 ply side walls will pop everytime. I rode one time and had three holes in the same tire. It took 8 slim jims to get me off the trail. I put pure sports up front and they are kevlar lined. Never had a problem again and they also track true. You go where you point the machine
As for the axle, I think +4 would be extreme because I do alot of woods riding and it's hard to get between the trees with you azz that big. Any more questions, just hollar

I would go with a +4 axle. the Z400 is 3 inches wider than the raptor so I see no harm in going an inch wider than that. If you can afford it, extended A-arms would help too. The axle would be my first concern though as that is where your weight will be.
I love the stock tires, especially after you get a little wear on them. Once the edge is off, it is easy to slide them around or sit back a little and let them grab!

for stock tires, there not bad but there not teh best. there better than warrior stock tires and such. btw, i heard if you go wider in the rear without widening the front it will actually cause it to have unpredictably stability. is this true?
