Best way to put the cylinder on over the piston - any way to lock in TDC?
I am installing the 686 kit on My Wife's Raptor. The DS can be locked in at TDC which makes it easier to get the jug over the piston.
What way are you guys doing it? Raptortranny.com says to lower the piston to bdc and do it there but. . . man. . . that gives no room for my manly fingers to work (wish I hadn't cut my fingernails last night too - now those rings are going to be a bear!
Also, did you guys change out the orange o-ring at the base of the cylinder when you pulled your jug?
How about the copper washers on the oil lines?
Thanks, hopefully the build will be done by this weekend!
Anyone want to volunteer their phone number for on-call advise for the weekend? Send me a PM!

You can use two peices of 2x4 under the piston to keep it a little higher.
Yes I changed the o-ring the first time.
I didn't change the copper crush gaskets, but its probably a good idea, however I have never had trouble with those leaking.
Check your PMs.

I had someone hold the cylinder while I worked the piston up into the cylinder. A small slot screwdriver is a great help in getting the rings into the cylinder.
I replaced both the o-ring and the crush gaskets.
Let us know if you have any more questions.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll try to re-use them and see if I can't pick some up at the local dealer.
Anyone have exhaust bolts crack on them? A buddy with a 2001 (Original Tranny) was putting on an aftermarket pipe and had the bolts break on him. I ordered a new set (only about $1.5 each so cheap insurance.)
Thanks for all the info. I can't wait to get this thing together and running.

Definitely dont over tighten the oil lines if you didnt buy new copper washers to compensate, the bolt wont strip it will break the case or head first. If they leak take em off and replace em.
