Default 2004 GRIZZ??

I'm very seriously thinking about getting rid of my z400 for a grizzly.. i've found the one i want, an 2004 Grizzly(blue in color) with a warn 2500lbs winch(installed) and NO sales tax or dealer fees for $6400.. its pretty much a done deal i just have to sell my 2 quads first, which won't take too long..

what i need to know is there any on going major problems with the grizzlies that hasn't been worked out yet?? theres alot of mud, water, and rocks here in arkansas and i don't want to get stranded in the middle of no-where with a 600lbs machine that needs to get back to the truck some how.. bcuz i do like to get wet & muddy and climb the rock hills and i dont' want to have any worries.. thanks guys i appreciate all the help.. nick

I have no desire to put down Yamaha; just in the same search for answers as yourself (the new Rhino is supposed to use the same engine/tranny combo).

They are also using these combos in 'sit-down' military vehicles built by independent vendors and sold to the government.

Again, not trying to get down on Yamaha...........it's just that 10 grand is a lot to pay for a glorified golf cart that seemingly doesn't run nearly as well as my old 500 Sportsman that's never missed a stroke!

Default 2004 GRIZZ??

.........nobody can promise troubleles riding. If you buy a lemon....of any brand....bad luck. There's many Grizzlies out there with no trouble at all. I have almost 4 thousand miles , had many problems with it, but I bought it 2 weeks after it was available at the dealees in 2002.Yamaha improved the quad since, and I did my part. With good year mud tires. 600 lbs. quad i is unstoppable in mud./ it has its limitations , of course/.
I believe this is the best and the most features equipt machine on the market, but many people will not agree.....this is strictly my opinion....I was shopping for a light quad with Easy steering, big bore, IRS, and locking differencial. Nobody else had it.
yes I swear I will never buy another Yamaha many times, but I put more and more miles on the machine and abuse it big time.....no more problems.
Bottom line...if you are willing to take your chance, buy the Yamaha. Because, whatever you buy is a gamble anyway.
One question for you. Where did you find a blue Grizz. in the US??? My next Grizz will be blue..

I have had no Problems with my Grizz and I'm glad I Bought it. Its a Perfect Utility Quad. Climbs Hills ( mountains ) Easy, goes through mud Easy, Dont get Stuck Very often, Fast For how big it is. its a Good Quad

How would you know? Is it something you could look at and see? Thing is, I haven't had any problems with my 02, so how would I be able to differentiate between the 04 having proper corrections? This is something you are going to have to wait for a year and see if anything goes wrong with 04 models. Then you can actually have evidence to show a track record.

Think very carefully before buying a grizzly. I duck hunt in AR every year and know you guys spend alot of time in water/mudd. My 02' grizzly is worthless in water. It sputters, hesitates and cuts out. I've got the new side vents and heat shield on order (Yamaha deneys it's a problem but has parts they will sell you to hopefully fix it). Maybe the 04's are better - I don't know. Also, constantly having to push buttons and slide levers over when engaging the front diff. lock gets old after awhile. There is also always a slight delay while the electronics engage/disengage the 4wd and diff. lock. I think polaris has the best 4wd system. Just leave it on and forget it. I also see alot of guys in AR with honda's. That should tell you something. If your gonna spend as much time in the water as the guys I know down there, you might want to consider them.
