Need Help with Raprot Badly
OK Here is a run down,
It is a 2001 Raptor with absolutely no mods other than a slip on GYTR muffler. It has been serviced properly and still looks brand new. I use it a lot around the farm riding back and to, to my parents house. It has always run perfectly even after the slip on. I do most of my riding is from idle to mid throttle, I rarely open it up? Two days ago I decided to play with it a little since it had been sitting for a couple of months. I gave her the pre ride checks and cranked her up and she idled smoothly very normal. I started out and she ran perfectly. After completely warming up I drop the throttle then it went spit spit spit cough cough sputter. I back of and again idled normally and had good half throttle performance. Tried to open her up again same thing so I thought it may be low on fuel and switched to the reserve. Same thing so I decided to get new fuel still no fix. I do not know exactly when if the problem just started or could have been there a while because like I said I do a lot of idle to half throttle riding. I do know that is ran perfectly the last time I was out playing a few months ago.
I have not been into the carburetor or air box; I have only added the slip-on.
Any Ideas please help.
Again she cranks perfectly, idles perfectly, runs to half or better throttle perfectly, only complains while on the "floor" or full throttle.

When I first got my Raptor I added a Curtis Sparks slipon without rejetting and It did the same thing. I had to rejet it and after I rejetted it ran like it was suppose too. The stock silencer is very restricted and anytime you add a slipon or a full exhaust it will flow more and the only thing to do is rejet or go back stock. Unless your stock jetting was rich to begin with the slipon would make it lean. Slim

it sounds like your emergency brake is stuck. You have to physically pull back on the part by the brakes in the rear. Also, A new spark plug may be in order along with some dry gas if it has been sitting awhile. I don't think you'll need to re-jet since you did not mess with filter or air box.

Thanks to all for some good advise,
But thankfully my wife helped me figure it out. She told me sarcastically that it was probally full of "Dirt Dobbers" and went inside to go to bed. Well after more pondering I new this seemed like either not enough air or not enough fuel at full throttle. I decided to look in the snorkle and low and behold a "Dirt Dobber" nest had one side completely blocked off.

Well my first guess would have been to check the air filter since you said you were never in there. If on a farm you may want to clean that regularly.
Glad you found your problem and thanks again for posting it. We are live and learn things about our quads and its nice to see problems solved.
