So what ever happened with the glowing pipe? Was it normal? Was something wrong? If so, how did ya'll fix it?

 

I believe it was/is normal.

 

yeah i guess its normal i called my dealer and he said thats how its going to glow. but the harder you ride it it seems to go away i dunno why it does it but o well that pipe isnt going to stay on there for very long anyway. now its a battle between my 250r or my new yamaha i need a frame and front plastic for the r and thats an 87 so if any of ya know whos got one in good shape let me know.

 

lol. that's weird, but from what i hear, it's normal.

 

it is normal with all high performance engines mostly happens with motocross bikes it headpipe will become blue the harder it is ridden

 

I HAVE A 2002 LSR BAJA FRAME FOR 250R.ONLY 4 HRS ON IT.

 

mine has never glowed but has become hot during the first 10 hours or so due to minimal airflow from moving slower.

 

Yeah its normal, I talked the mechanics at the dealer and they said all the 450 engines do it. Also goto thumpertalk.com and check out the yamaha section, do a search on glowing headpipe and you will see many people with the 450's talking about it. They said when it stops glowing is when you got a problem.
