Default great to be Canadian

I was half kidding when I posted that earlier. I grew up on the southern shore of Lake Michigan [where the water gets over 70 degrees and you can actually swim in it] and the weather sucks there too. I wasted over half my life sitting inside waiting for summer. I chose not to do that any longer.
I have been to Canada countless times. It's alot like the states. In fact, except for the beaches that we have where you can enjoy the summers, they are basically the same.
We have struggled in this country with our "welfare state". We have a large group of people who had their hands out for so long they forgot how to provide for themselves. As a conservative, I believe every person in society should be responsible for themselves and their family. I will not depend on my national government for anything except provisions for the strongest military possible. I oppose national programs that take out of my pocket to fund the lazy. Canada is a "progressive country" which is what those on the left call a socialist country. I don't want to have any of that crap sinking southward.
Of course we buy all of the natural resources we can from Canada, they sell everything so cheap. It's a nation of cheap labor. Big business isn't going to invest the money to unearth the United State's resources when we can get it for less right across the border. Plus the longer we hold on to our raw materials the better off we are strategically. By the way, the US has vast amounts of resources that go untouched not only because other countries are so willing to sell there's for next to nothing but the Sierra Club and their cohorts makes it next to impossible to "exploit" the environment.
One last jab, I have 3 canadian couples that live in my neighborhood in the winters and my next door neighbor is from Vancouver [great city]. They live in Scottsdale because they want to and they can afford to. Canadians who have the means will live in the states, Americans who have the means buy a place in the Southwest or on the coast. They only reason I would have to move to Canada is if I trapped wolverine for a living.

I think I can answer the last part of that .. they hate us because the rest of the world loves us and hates them. See, we can sling around national pride too!

All these post have one thing in commom, we are each backing up our country and thats what its all about. I am a little pissed over the NAFTA thing that enabled the canadian lumber to undersell the US companys, but I admit that was more Clintons fault than anyones. We got the two best countries out there and we should stick together.
Amen to that YFZ!!

WOW, fresh water. Whatever would USA do if we could'nt buy the most abundant source on earth, from Canada. I mean we would all just die... =/

Exactly it's no different then Americans who live here to ski and snowmobile because of the extra month or so we get. Not to mention how many Americans we get in $100,000 camperized buses that live up here in summer because of the great camping, quading and hunting we have. I bet just as many Americans move to Canada as Canadians move to the States per year.

YFZWideopen I agree with that as well.

There is alot to say here after reading all the replys but it will not help, it will just cause more trouble. Me, personally, I would never want to live in the states or even visit. I really want to goto one of the deserts there, I love sand but I probably never will, I live so damn far up north.

The gun thing, if you think its your freedom to own a weapon that can kill anyone then I just don't know, thats crazy. Canadian's do not need guns to protect themselves, why do american's? If you say because of brake ins or murderous crime and such well guns go along way to cause that stuff. No guns do not make people want to brake into your house but guns corrupt people. Like money. It gives you that ego that if anyone screws with me I will smoke him!!! You think its your right but it is not! You, no one, has the right to kill anyone, just because they want your money, your car, or the jewels in your house. If they are threatening your life, that is a different story. If you kill somoene braking into your house, you will goto jail.

This just adds fuel to the fire of course, flame me. This thread is spiraling downhill, but it does prove one thing. There are misconseptions on both sides of the border and because of this alot of us dislike each other to some extent. Its sad, why don't people get along? So what if we share resources, its helps both countries.

I'll stop typing, I got lots to say but the more I type the worse it gets.

I've seen this thread for a couple days now but havn't looked, but because it's hanging around I knew it would be USA vs. Canada WWIII!!!! Ha ha ha.....Canada is a cool place, I've actually only been to Vancouver, but it was AWESOME!!!! And, I live in Utah, so I'm not too happy about living in the US while I'm here...ha ha...other than the awesome terrain I get to ride my quad in this state pretty much sucks.

So, USA!!! Canada!!! KISS AND MAKE UP!! Cuz you guys are lucky not to be living in UTAH!!!

"If you kill somoene braking into your house, you will goto jail."

In Canada ya.

Bertram, as you know im in Nova Scotia. I have a few guns here. No hand guns. Its to much trouble to get one. If it wasnt so much trouble, id have a couple. I happen to like firing guns. For sport and recreation.

If some one breaks into my house in the middle of the night to rip me off, while my kids are in bed, look out, im coming. You dont have to kill them, if they see that barrel of that 12 guage, hear the slide go back, and they dont have one, you wont need to shoot, they will be shiatting their pants.

As far as america and canada, pfft. Old issue, no need to argue... there is a lot of land mass here, no one is going anywhere anytime soon, and when those arseholes across the water start up again... I want red, white and blue helping me out.

Ohh hehehe, and i pay 330 per yr all inclusive ins, comp, thft, fire, 1mil lib, cols, etc.

Whoever said we need guns to protect ourselves? If I want a gun to hunt, protect myself, or just to hang on my wall to look at. I will get one.

Also, I rather have guns be legal. Than illegal and only criminals have them.

And you dont go to jail for shooting a criminal breaking in your house.
