Its all about knowing your limits on this quad, if your responsible, and respect the quad, it would be ok for you, the raptor, even corked up, is very powerful, and may be a handfull, i would also reccomend a blaster, they can be modded in the future for more power.

i'd suggest a 400ex, kfx400, or z400 with proper supervision.

maybe a 300ex would better fit you though.

Seeing as how your 12 there is no way you have the cash for a raptor so your dad/mom will be forking up the cash. I tried to tell you this the easy way in my first post DON'T GET A RAPTOR!!! If your parents/parent fork up the cash to get a 12 yr old a 660cc quad they're not right in the head. You will hurt yourself, you said nothing about experience. Plus its against the "law" for a dealer to sell a quad over 90cc's for or to someone under the age of 16. I',m 18 yrs old and have been riding since I was about 5 yrs. old, so I deffinately no my limits but do I still wreck? Of course, owning a quad is like having a mean pitbull, one minute you think you got it under control then the next it turns around and puts you in the hospital.

If it's going to be your first quad, you definitely need to start out on something like a 300ex. You sound pretty mature for a 12 year old but a Raptor is still a lot to handle. I've been riding since I was 8 and I'm 15 now with a Warrior. And I'm just starting to think about moving up after getting pretty good on the Warrior. Start out with something smaller. Actually the Warrior is a pretty good starter bike as well (and a whole lot cheaper )

I agree with warrior620. Mostly because of experiance. Say your going up a mild woods trail and you come across a 4" tree branch on the trail and there is no other way around it. That is no major obstical, you stand up lean back and hit it with your front tires but it slides forward, you hit the throttle hard and the thing goes straight up in the air. you probably would freeze and all 400lbs comes falling back on you.

I don't see any shame owning something a little less powerfull while you build more skills.

i have seen alot of younger people on raptors. at the atpt nationals there was a 9 year old on a modded vforce 700 wipping piped raptors, i have a friend that has a 13 year old that drags his raptor at the sand drags. but a raptor is not a good first quad. but if you do get a raptor they will flip over backwards and at high speeds sux bad. my kid is almost 5 and has had a suzuki 50 since he was 3, but he is just now getting up ability to ride it with out us being right over him. it takes time a blaster is not a bad quad, i have seen them beat warriors, and one drag one that ran better then some raptors

Im 17 and been riding since i was about that age too "5 or 6" and i know what you mean. Law is a big deal though. stating on smaller bikes and upping the level is what its all about. not starting on a 66 raptor and thrashing it and saying "Look mah'". Jees.

I want to comend you, most people of your age would start snapping back and calling everybody names and such. I think you are on your way, and obviously mature for your age.

If you decide to go with something else, tell you parents you want to get a used bike (cheaper) get some experiance sell it, then move up to the big bike. I think that would show your parents allot.
