Default BEST clutch for 686 Raptor and should I replace

the basket while I'm in there? I've been thinking about changing the one-way for a LA Design before mine goes and/or scores the gear, spend a little now or spend more later. I've been very careful not to start the engine in gear but if the LA Design is as good as advertised, it would be nice to just start it and not worry. As long as I'm in there, I'm going to upgrade the clutch since I think it's only a matter of time until it starts to slip with the mods on my 686 Raptor. Is it worth the money for a new basket and if so, who makes the BEST replacement clutch parts? I only want to cry once so money is not a factor. Personal experience/knowledge with built Raptors is preferred. Thanks!

The GYTR works great!
I've been racing my 686 for a year and a half and have had no problems at all.
Call Hinson clutch for the basket and Barnett for the springs.
Hinson also offers a pressure plate that is worth doing.

I run a hinson basket...Ive seen stock baskets break before and it's not pretty. I run a stock pressure plate though. The hinson plate is around 100-150, when a stock one is $11. I'd replace the plate 10 times to 1 hinson plate, so I decided to keep that stock. As for the clutch..I run a GYT-R clutch. I wish someone would come out with an even stronger clutch..I've broken every clutch I've put in this bike.

Bob showed me a real nice clutch basket when I was in Texas that I think is now available. I like the idea of replacing the oneway not only for reliability but the L&A is suppose to be lighter than the stock one also.

I also run the Hinson basket and a new stock pressure plate. My stock basket broke and it sucked. No one had the GYTR clutches when I was ordering parts so I got the Sparks heavy duty clutch and have had great luck with it.

Hey man I have been running the Dalton clutch basket for about a year now and it works great for me. I start it in gear all the time and it never hurt it yet. The dalton pop-up is always at the top of the screen on this website. Check it out or just type in www.daltonindustries.com into your browser.

Somebody use to run R-1 clutch plates in their Raptor. They were supposed to be stronger than stock.

I am still on my orignal clutch plates/basket.

Has anybody every cryo treated a basket or pressure plate?
How about one of the magic coatings that Craycraft uses? Or do they have anything to put on the clutch?

Sounds like the GYT-R clutch plates and Hinson/GYT-R basket and PP with Barnett HD springs are the hot ticket. Thanks guys!
