Default Big wreck on the

Well, part of my riding group went out for a ride Saturday down the South Canadian River here north of Ada. We had my raptor, my bros KFX400, four banshees, and some utilities. We started the day off by Jimmy bending the left a-arm of his banshee right off the bat. After some river-fabrication, we were ready to ride again. We made a pretty uneventful ride until we got about 17 mi down river to the first Oil rig at Allen.

As we neared the first oil derrick in the river, disaster struck. My best friend, Dakota, hit a double berm just wrong and flipped his 2002 banshee end for end. Luckily, in the course of the wreck, Dakota was thrown right as the bike went left and continued cartwheeling down the river. Dakota lit hard on the wet sand and rolled over a couple of times. It was very evident that he was pretty bad off. We slowly removed his helmet to help him breathe and I lit out for the high ground with a cellphone. I called in the fire dept and an ambulance and we were able to get Dakota on a stretcher and carry him to a truck which transported him to the Ambulance.

Dakota is being released today after being treated for two days for internal and external bruising and a few sprains. He doesn't feel so hot but thanks to good safety equipment and plenty of good people being there to help, this whole incident will soon be one more memory to laugh at as we enjoy this sport. Dakota is already laughing about this and hopes to be riding again soon. His bike is a little worse for the wear but as a result of good insurance and a garage full of tools, it will be ready for a big run to Sahara over Labor Day.
