7 speed or 8

The only application I could see for it would be racing, where you want good take-off and good top speed. The downside on that is there's just too much shifting to be done with that many gears in a race situation. All of the great racing quads are 5 speeds as I understand it ... the Warrior is a 6-speed, but it's not a good racing quad. 6th is nice for trail riding .. wickedly improves fuel economy for general trailing. My Warrior burns about 1/2 the gas that my friends big bear does .. same basic engine, just a different tranny and only 2wd vs. 4wd. Warrior is also a good bit lighter than the bigbear. And wayyyyyyy faster

Yeah I agree .. the Big Bear is one solid quad!! My buddie's quad is an 89 and it still runs as good as my Warrior. He needs new front shocks now and could do with a new spring for the rear (his is cracked on the bottom). Other than the odd universal joint and wheel bearings he's had no maintenance on the machine .. The biggest problem with them is that they only have the 5 gears .. they seem to top out very quickly.
