baffles

Default baffles

hi guys i can't seem to be able to get the baffels out of my exaust on my 99 warrior do u have any way that i can get them off i pulled and tuged but nothing worked any tips

it wont budge if i pul pull pull it will gcome out eventully

did ya take the bolt out on the bottom of the muffler, cuz that would really help, lol. But i took a grinder to mine and it came right out then. same problem as you are having then just took the ol grinder to it.

I know alot about fourwheelers but i know nothing about baffles what are they where are they what do they do y take them out if i do take it out can i run with it out through anything and does it help alot to take it out thanks

I posted this on another thread but here:

Baffles refer to the system used by most factory pipes to both lower noise levels and provide adequate backpressure to the engine. These tend to be a very restrictive design and rather than buy an expensive aftermarket pipe, many people try to cut corners by removing their baffles from the stock exhaust. NOT a good idea!

Be aware of two things concerning your baffles:

1. Baffled piped are designed to be run with the baffles in. Taking the baffles out of a stock pipe creates a pipe with NO backpressure. This can be a dangerous thing and can majorly decrease performance.

2. Removing your baffles can lean out your bike and cause overheating, backfire and other problems. Be ready to rejet especially if you change air filter.

If you can afford it, you will be much better off getting a flow-through design pipe. It will give you the needed backpressure and make your bike perform much better than a stock pipe with the baffles removed. Take the time, and money to get an aftermarket pipe, k&n filter, and rejet. You won't be sorry.

mine was so rusted from riding in the river, my dad had to use the torch LMFAO

How: by removing the carbs and exchanging the main jets located inside the float bowl.

Is it hard: if you have any mechanical experience, No. If not, Yes.

Is it expensive: jets are about $2.50 ea. You will probably wind up buying three or four before getting it right.
