Default How should I richen up my yfz?

Did a plug check today and found it to be a little on the white side.I wasn't to sure until I compaired it to the one in my 400ex.The mods I've done are airbox cover off,did the cam mod, full Sparks exhaust system, main jet is a 200,c-clip is on the 5th notch and turned airscrew out two full turns. It seems like it should be on the rich side, pretty suprised when I seen the plug.Anybody got any ideas. Also,it back fires bad when I let off the throttel after running hard.

I have the cam mod, no lid, and a full HMF pipe on my YFZ. I'm at 4500 ft. elevation and I'm running a 175 main, 2 turns out on the airscrew, and clip in the 5th spot on the needle. If you put the clip in the 6th position down from the top you are richining the circuit. Mine backfires bad after running wide open as well. Haven't figured that out yet. I'm still messing with jetting but I'm close. A 200 main seems way rich. How does it feel on the top end? Does it feel flat or does it pull strong? Just trying to help.

Buddah,on top end I can only hold it at half throttle, then the rev limiter kicks in.Dose your do that? She pulls hard all the way threw until top end, really has me stressed out......Thanks for the help.

The lower you go on the needle, I.E 6th notch, the richer it is
Thanks for the 411 on the pilot jets,no one has told me a feakin'thing about that! How's your yfz on top end?You ever hit the rev limiter.

I had a 170 main in befor the 200.The "rev limiter" (so I beleaved),was kicking in in every gear.A buddy of mine told me his z400 did that because the main jet was to small,I guess that dosn't apply to my problem.

you need to adjust in SMALL increments. Need I repeat SMALL. a 170 might have been giving you a lean pop (detonation) that also feels like a rev limiter. put a 180 in and PM me about how it works. Your rev limiter is set WAY higher than the Z's and you should rarely if ever hit it.

Just for the info, a 200 is 7 full sizes bigger!!!!!! Go ONE size at a time! Sparks should be able to tell you EXACTY what jetting you need since nothing is beyond the standard mods. Be sure to use GOOD gas, not 89 octane shiz! At least 92! If you use 87 or 89 you'll get detonation well before the rev limiter, and it could feel the same if your not familiar with it.
Holy **** dude......you really know your ****!!!!!Thanks alot!!!

Good info from Ridley. He explained everything well. The pilot jet was my next adjustment. I have a small hesitation right off throttle. I will richen the pilot up one size at a time till it's right. I just put my pipe on yesterday and I'm dialing it in before I go on my next ride.
