Thunder- They are not hill shooters at pismo?? Anyway i still like the larger cc motor to start with. Fuel is a big part of the equation and no one really knows what sparks runs. Might be 40 dollars a gallon and they may not run at all on race fuel or alky. Those few quads may be on a short fuse. I know that craftys craycraft 686 is going to be a 5.0 or better raptor on 107 octanne race fuel and he can run the race track and then go play all day in the dunes/trails and have no worries.

If you are looking for a pure dragger wait a few weeks. Craycraft is building a 727 with override tranny, custom frame, wheely bar, air shifter, custom CDI program, 39mm fcr's and other things that i have not seen on a built raptor. It will either go or blow shortly.

 

Well i know that that CRF runs 30% nitro blend and gets torn down and shiped to Sparks for "refreshing" after every trip to Pismo than shiped back. The bike i am looking to build will not be a pure bread dragger i still want my bike to be relible and duneable but still be able to kick the crap out of the other 4-Strokes and 2-Smokes....

 

They say the yfz gets 50hp pretty easy, for a raptor to keep up with that he will need like 55+ and the only ones making that much have alot more than pipe and filter done to them. If you dont want to dig in the engine to get fast the only option would be fyz. If you do want to dig into the engine though, for now my buy would be a DS. We have yet to see what a very modded yfz will do.

 

i have video of the sparks 450r and its damn fast. Id go with the crf over any of the other bikes, just because of what ive seen.

 

debeech, debeech- we all know that YOU are fast on your 2 smoke but there is no way Honda is going to release a faster 450 than yamaha. The only difference between the yamaha 440 and the make believe crf450 is that the honda will probably have drum brakes. lol I do not keep up with the dirt bikes but from what i have seen of a actual crf450 motor it is more $$ to get the power out. I had to buy a honda quad to slow my kid down.

 

my 2 smoke is fast, but the 450r thumper that sparks built was fast also. I havent seen a yamaha thumper run as hard as that motor has yet.

havent seen a yfz hold up to 30% nitro yet...takes a strong motor to withstand that kind of abuse.
