Here's the view of the crank:

Crank arm...

Also, notice the cut-out:

Cut-out...

The plastic is somewhat flimsy, but what do you do? The marks to follow for cutting the fender are there from the factory - take a look behind yours and you'll see.

Here's where the brake fluid resi ended up - real cool/clean:

Brake resi...

Now, the only problem:

Uh oh...

The part your foot goes on sticks way out. I can see/feel that thing ramming into the back of my boots now. The way Sparks bends his pipe the crank arm hits it when you go to rotate it back in after starting. The stock header would not do this. Any of you guys got ideas on how to adjust? Can I grind a bit of the arm out to fit it around the pipe?

No fan:

No fan...

The box holding the battery and other misc parts feels like an easy 12-15 lbs. I'll weigh this evening.

The bike does not have a hot start lever (i.e. Dr. D). Don't know if I'll need one either. I started and stopped the bike several times and it always started right back up w/ a kick or two. We'll see how that works under "real" conditions.

Yes - YZ. I don't know if the YZ is any different from the WR though.

How much is the kicker? Do you have to split the cases?

A quick update:

1 - I may have found a part to solve the kicker arm "sticking out" problem. I'll only tell you what it is once I know it works. Should have it early next week.

2 - Rode the bike around just enough to get it hot and then turned it off. The bike started first kick. Started doing my chores and about 1.5 hours later went to start the bike once more. Again, first kick. There was a thead last week (I think) about the kick start and one comment was "why would a racer want to kick start when he could just push the button". Well if you been on a YFZ w/ the 13:1 piston, you know it doesn't start (electrically) like stock anymore. I was able to start the bike much quicker w/ the kick than electric. Note, I do not have a hot start button. The bike has auto-decompression, so I don't think I'll ever need a hot start. I'll know for certain this weekend.

3 - I have now taken off right around (30) lbs. The battery/starter/fan "stuff" from yesterday came in @ ~ 13.5 lbs. Add that to the ~17 I got a couple of weeks ago and you've just taken 8.5% of the stock weight off. There's still more to come off - coolant resi, crankcase breather (to be modified), all of the air/batter boxes once a "bolt-on" type filter is available, more wires, clean the crap off of the handle bars, etc. Probably ~ 5lbs.

4 - Won't have nitrous this weekend. K&T doesn't have the part/time. Will need to wait for another week or so.

do you feel the motor will stay plenty cool with out the use of the fan now. IM sure with air passing threw the radiator will be fine while riding but that fan is good piece of mind i would think??

I'm thinking it will be OK so long as I kill the motor rather than just idle and I'll keep an eye on the overflow to see what it's doing.

The part won't work. Get out the grinder.
