I'm pretty new to ATVs and I have a stock '98 Banshee and I'd like to increase the low end power. I've heard that the Pro Design Cool Head will do this. I really don't want to change pipes. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mike

A real simple way to add low end is to change you front countershaft sprocket up one or 2 teeth from the stock gearing. But you will loose some top end by doing this change. Depending on where you ride if you dont need top end this would be the chapest way to get low end

Thanks for the reply. I will look into your suggestion. Do you know if the Pro Design Cool Head will also help with the low end?

Thanks,
Mike

The coolhead helps some depending on how much you increase the compression with smaller domes. I have a set of ram valves for sale that will make a really noticeable increase down low. Email me if interested in them

why don't you want to change your pipes?

That's one of the best mods out there!

Change your pipes, rejects the carbs and you'll notice an increase every where. Boyseen power reeds will give you a good increase and also a reed spacer.

I wouldn't suggest changing sprockets, you'll lose lots of top end.

Hope this helps.

>> why don't you want to change your pipes? <<

Good question. What is your reccommendation for a pipe that will help with the low end? Also, how will this affect the sound level? Does anyone know of a web page that explains how different mods affect performance? I know these are pretty basic questions, but I'm new and I'm trying to learn as much as possible.

Thanks,
Mike

I'm sure someone here can help you with a pipe, i don't even own a banshee, sure wish i did!

I do know as far as noise level, it will probably get about 10-20Db higher over stock. Not that bad. I personally like them loud!

If you want to increase the low end power with a pipe, get a 2 into 1 pipe.
Go to http://www.dynoport.com/quads3.html or http://www.dynoport.com/dw-article.html to get information on the pipe.

Here is what you do, start out with getting a good pipe like toomey's or fmf. Then get a set of boyesen reeds, then get a cool head with 20 or 21 cc domes and you will be happy. Also go from a 14 tooth sprocket to a 13 tooth on the front. It will take some top end away but there is a big increase in bottom end.

Banshee350Twin is right about the 2 into 1 pipe.
