Default Raptor Octane?

Is it gonna make a difference if i run 93 octane rather than 87 in my rappy? or will it just be a waste of money?

Well that's kind of a two part question. If your raptor is full stock, it will run no better on 93 than it does on 87. However if you have significant modifications, you will get better performance out of 93. I personally run 93 in all my machines just because it is a cleaner fuel.

Yes, since new stock I have allways ran 93 or even 91 if I couldnt find 93 anywhere close.

I've heard tht running 93 octane could make your engine run hotter.

I can't verify that. I usually run high octane, but truthfully have no problmes running either.

If it's in the can, that's what I use.

Running anything over 87 will actually lose performance. If it does not ping or knock on 87, it is making its maximum power. Engines only need higher octane fuel if they are higher compression. Saves money, too!

Thats a negative. The higher the octane level the cooler the motor will run. And I wouldn't reccomend running anything less than 93 octane in any performance quad. Yea its more money, but I would rather spend 20 cent of assurance that the trash and impruities of that 87 octane aren't going to give me piston failure. Just my .02

look at the diffenrt compression ratios on a yfz compared to a rapy...rapy (stock) doesn't need higher octane gass the yfz does witht the high compression!!!

It may not need it, but I'm not gonna take the chance. If your bike isn't worth 20 cent thats fine, but mine sure is.

I am gonna have to take issue with you on this one WallStreet. There is not enough difference between the 87 and 93 octane ratings to support you claim of a loss of performance. Now if you want to argue about stock quads running race fuel, then I will agree with you, however running 93 rather than 87 will not show a loss of power or performance if your quad is running right. And 93 is a HELL of a lot cleaner than 87.

I run 89 in mine. When it was totally stock it would sometimes ping with 87.
