blaster wont start
#1
hey, im posting this for a friend, i kno nothing about quads! well, today we were riding and as we got to the end of a hill his blaster bogged out! we havent been able to start it since then and hadda tow it out wit his jeep and since then it hasnt started. i noticed a hose at the bottom of his carb was hanging down and we dont kno if its supposed to be there or not. there are two little hoses on the sides that look like they are for overflow and it just doesnt look like this one at the bottom of the carb should be there hanging like that. sometimes it will turn over, but wont idle..it struggles and we have the throttle pinned. it wont stay on for more then a couple seconds and sometimes it wont even turn over! can anyone help?

I would try a new spark plug first. But when you have the plug out hold your finger over the spark plug hole and have someone kick it over to make sure you have compression. If the compression is ok go ahead and put in a new plug.

o, there is compression...if there wasnt, it wouldnt run like it does... like, i can have it pinned and it would run for good 10 seconds. ill check the spark. what else can cause this?

I wouldn't just check the plug I would replace it......It could be the float in the carb sticking you can try and tap on the side of the float bowl with the blunt end of a screw driver or someting and see if it starts.

if it is older than an 03 it possiable it might be the throttle sensor it is located under the front hood unplug it make sure you dont unplug the cdi ....seen alot of those go bad if you unplug it it should be fine if thats what it is ..or ck. the reeds ...or dirt in the carb....

i had a similar problem with mine it did the same thing that u stated so i took the carb apart and cleaned and it ran for a little while then died again then i did it all over again and the same thing happened. I ended up putting new reeds in it and that solved the problem.
