Hello everyone! I'll try not to take up too much space here. I just bought an old Yamaha atv and do not know what I bought. Seller said it was an 85. I can't find id. Where would I find it? SHAFT is printed on the side of what is left of the seat. Runs great, but needs seat and reverse release (safety?) lever and front brake lever, cable. I just want it for farm use. Any help identifying it and/or finding parts appreciated! I could send picture by email but don't know how to post it here...too old for computers and atv's both! Thanks and Regards to all.

I think the Moto-4 250 only had a one year run in '89 and the 225 didn't come out until '86, so it's probably a 200.
You can try www.eastcoastatv.com and they might can help you out with the parts.

yep, if it's an 85 it's probably a 200. i've got two of them. actually one's just a parts wheeler. anyway, hope you don't have to ride over any bumps because MY GOD are they ever rough riding. they have NO suspension, repeat NO suspension. i've also got an '03 grizzly, hard to believe how far they've came in that 18 years..... by the way my dad has a 225 and i do believe it's an '89. the 200 is a good work fourwheeler if you just need to haul stuff around on FLAT SMOOTH SURFACES........ actually they are extremely stable on side hills due to their lack of suspension. it used to be the only quad i had up until a year ago. now i turned mine into a swimmer, with some snorkeling and waterproofing. loads of fun with the nephews. the 200 has an excellent low range, lots of pulling power.

hey, back in the mid 80's, a bike with no shocks was no biggie, right?

Yes, that is it! no suspension, hole in front rack for 6 pack cooler. Now, the closest dealer is 50 miles away, and they told the people who sold it to me that the seat was no longer available. Is there any chance of finding a seat or cover anywhere? Would owners manual or shop manuals be available? Where would I find the serial number????? Thanks again and regards to all. fof

I would suggest going to an upholstery shop, like one that does care interiors, and get them to staple you some vinyl on it
or even leather
Yamaha made that 200 bike for a few years. After about 2 or 3 years, they put shocks on it, but the rest was pretty much the same
