Man that sucks about the piston.

I have yet to see a 450 wide open. They sound awful bad.

wshrdskin,
Man I never saw you. I was out there racing at the flats on & off all day long. I never noticed a redskin flag. Oh well. I had fun. I had a red long slleve shirt on that said glamis & black shift riding pants on if you happened to remember anyone like that on a sparks piped YFZ. But there was a bunch of those bikes out there this weekend.

There was a sheeit load of YFZ's at Pismo yesterday. There was probably 10-20 at the drags at any given time every time I was there. All in varying stages of mods from stock to whatever. There was also a 400ex framed with what I was told was a CRF450 motor and it was kicking alot of ***. There was not one YFZ that could hang with it that was there. If it was the CRF motor it was definatly not stock and was fixed up well and could have even been on alky or nitrous, but whatever it was it was fast, one of the fastest quads there and the fastest 4 stroke that I saw there.

250,

I'll check the vids I was there 3-4 times during the day yesterday. You're right, there was a lot of YFZ's there. Those are some sweet quads. There was only 1 stock quad there I had him by probably 4 quads even with my hole but that was before it realy gave out. I raced as many as I could and all but the stocker would get the holeshot, a few I could chase down but not make the pass before we shut down and some I didn't have a chance in hell. LOL

Yes that CRF450 runs on alcohal, and yes it's way fast. I don't know what else is done to it. But I didn't see a 4 stroke beat it yesterday. It even beat the ESR YFZ450 on alcohal with no problem.

Your running a colder plug than stock too aren't you? Is the porcelain blistered on your plug?

Sorry to hear about your piston, at least it's an easy fix. What was your jetting, what fuel, and what elevation? Also, did the dyno you used have a gas analyzer? Those sand hills look like they put a hell of a strain on the engine, way different than MX or trails.
