The porcelion is not blistered. Yes, I was running a one step colder plug. The jetting was dyno jets 170/175 , 91 - a mixture of Ultimate 4 and 91. This happpened at sea level. The symptoms started at St anthonys which is around 4500-5000' same jets. The only dyno I've been on was at 4SW's and there was no gas analyzer.

 

GOOD GOD THAT THING IS FAST!!! I knew it wasn't a regular 400ex when I lined up with him and he kick started it!! [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-shocked.gif[/img] It probably beat me by 10 quadlengths or more...I couldn't really tell being as far back as I was!!

i had talked last week about the yfz that was smoking everyone including the drag banshees ,well now i know why and i will explain.i was at the local yamaha dealer and i was telling one of the salesman about what i had seen and he described the guy and he had sold him the quad and it was on nitrous and alcohol so although they are very fast at least there is an explanation for what i saw.today at the dunes in florence where i ride i raced a couple of piped yfzs and in a 300 foot sand drag i could just barely hang with them but when i let another (smaller and lighter ) rider from this forum run against them on my raptor he was able to beat them so i guess my raptor is doing okay.i am not knocking the yfz because it is incredibly fast but what i saw last weekend as i had guessed was more than a pipe.the rider that rode my raptor was WILDCHILD and he did a great job against the yfz and beat some very fast banshees also.

 

i believe it went riding today couple 450s at the drags including mine. mine is completly stock right pretty soon i'll get the baffle and lid out and rejet and stuff. later on i'll get a pipe. well in the dragging i did a piped z400 had no chance and i was pretty even with piped raptors i'm light and a lot depends on the rider so its hard to tell but i would give the edge to me expecially out of the hole. i also beat a piped banshee with paddles keep in mind i still have my stock tires. but yah once i get a pipe i'm sure it will hang with most quads out there i'm sure there will still be faster but i am impressed a lot with my new 450 yamaha did there homework for once.

 

If my nitrous Raptor gets beat by any YFZ's at Sandfest that are only fairly modded, I am going to get a 2005 YFZ. Definetly going to get the second year, though. What are you guys' thoughts?

 

WALLSTREET- if by fairly modded you mean a pipe and air filter i would say that with the right rider and if the rider were fairly light that yes he could beat your raptor on nitrous.

wshrdskin- Those are very cool vids. Did you ever race a YFZ?? If so, what was on it and what was the outcome?? It's pretty sad that with all the money I've spent on mine I can barely beat one with the baffle out and lid off. Was the blue YFZ out there with the ESR pipe on it?? I remeber that thing being especially fadt for a piped YFZ.
