how much power difference is there between the stage 1&2 hot cams?
I am presently running the stage one.......would I gain more by using the stage 2 or by using a 736/737 web cam?

Bigscary- I hate to tell you this but to make the change (cam) the stage 2 is going to do you a better all around job. Looking at your sig you will be adding dual valve springs. So while you are at it you might as well throw in the 12-1 and be done. I have yet to see a really fast raptor on straight pump gas. I was talked out of a 12-1 piston in my very first 686 a few years ago. I really did not want to run race gas at the time. Big mistake on my part. Every motor that i have done since the first one has been 12-1 piston. I do believe that they run cooler and they are just as reliable. The race gas issue is not a big deal. I just got back from a 3 day week end in the sand and went thru 15 gallons of race fuel. If i had been a built 11-1 i would have gone thru the same 15 gallons of premium. So my 3 days of fun was a extra 30 bucks. The extra 5 HP is worth every penny of it and the smell is better. Saddle up and do it right when you go back in. 6 months from now you will not be kicking yourself for not doing it. Do it and smile everytime you hit the gas.

Alot of us have been there and done that. Save the grief, bite the bullet and do it. It is just another 150 while you are in there now. 6 months from now it will be all the labor all over again.

What about all of the rod failures that people talk about?
that would be VERY expensive to fix?

JMO but I don't like Web cams I feel there too hard start wearng out other pieces too fast Plus when running a web they say you shound harden your rockers
There a major increase in mid to top from the stage 1 to the stage 2.
I run the 12.1 and love it and every body that has run it love it!!!!!
Rod problems I STILL think there a problem with the 01 and if its a newer bike then they jetted wrong!!!

I think that I will leave it stock bore......I just love the look on the shee owners face when a stock bore rappy blows his azz............
plus it would be harder on the rod to go with the bigger bore....Correct??

Big scary- my 2001 built stock bore is every bit as fast or faster than my 2003 686. Use the springs that you have.

There are a few spring choices- kibblewhite and RD
Pat has a point about the web cam being a harder metal.

If i ever plan to run the wb 685 i think i would go with FCR's next time
