My stock Raptor 300 ft. times....can I improve at all?
Going to drag race my Rappy this weekend so I did some practice runs. Here are the results.
First off, it was a very dry freshly cut hay field. It has not rained here for 8 weeks now. Lots of dust. Still had OK traction. In stock trim, still too many wheelies off the line. I tried has hard as I could to keep the front end down. I started in 1st and 2nd.
1st gear best....6.49
2nd gear best....6.33
Then we used tie-down racket straps to lower my suspention. Took it all the way to the ground, no travel left. Well....it fixed my wheelie problem. You could launch it hard in 1st with no fear of looping out. Got down to a 5.87, my best run. But it sure looked odd only 2 inches off the ground.
I need to keep my machine "stock" to be in the stock class. Do I have any left in her? I pushed it has hard as it would go. Just looking for some tips.

Try gearing up 1 tooth in front....that helped mine when it was stock. Most stock classes allow at least a pipe. It's very tough too get accurate timing without being at an actual track.....then you will definately know what helps and what does'nt.

Good luck man, seems like really good times for stock. I've never seen one get under 6.0 on the 300ft...of course they didn't have the shocks compressed. But for under $70(shipping and all) you can get a lowering kit that will drop you 4' in the front, and then you flip the shock linkage around on the back and drop it 4'....then you don't wheelie and the bike looks better(my opinion)

A 5.8 is pretty fast on a fully stock Rappy. You should be happy with those times. I know the fastest that I have seen was a 5.6 on a fully stock Rappy.
I would recomend gearing down some and going for the hard 2nd gear launch. JMO You will get more distance without having to shift if you launch in 2nd. Just remember this about tire pressure... if you seem like you are spinning bad, and not wheeling you can take more air out. If you are hooking to good and the front is pulling or its bogging the engine then add some air.
GOOD LUCK!!!!
Bang them gears and get a good jump off the light!
