Default one way #3

Well I went to go for a ride this evening, to check out the new carb, and it looks like my third one way went out. At least thats all I can think of it being. I just bought a new battery, timing is right, valves have about 3 hours on this adjustment, ect... anyway it won't turn over. Its like I have a low battery or the decomp unit isn't working, but I know it is because it has been real long ago I had the cam out.

Anybody think it could be something else?

I guess I have to buy a new one way now, AGAIN.

O you will. I am going riding in the morning come hell or high water. The weather here is NICE for a change, 88 and windy today. If I have to push it off myself in the sand I will, but I think I can get one or two of the guys I am going with to give me a tow.

Check all your connections to and from your battery. It could be a loose ground or hot wire. This happened to me and it turned out to be a bad ground. Slim

How are these one ways going bad? I know mine sounds like crap, but what happens when they go? I've brutalized my starter in harsh cold winters trying to get my Raptor going at -30 and I'm still on my stock one way and starter setup? I ride mine and use the starter hard in them conditions, it just doesn't sound so quiet but still works, when will I know it's time is up?

The starter is turning over, it makes about one stroke and then comes to a complete hault like it has to much compression for it to turn past TDC.

I checked/cleaned all of the connection.
I can spin the gear on the end of my starter with my finger, so I don't think the starter is locked up. You do I clean the armature, just to be safe? Surely it couldn't hurt.

Maybe this will help too. The reason I bought a new battery is because I melted the positive terminal off my old one. I thought I had a loose connection and it just kept arcing and eventually melted. Maybe thats not the case.

SpArx, you'll know when its time.

I appreciate the help guys.

Ward, check the ground that goes to the case on the flywheel side with the round connector on the end. If the paint on the case is causing it to not have enough ground what you describe will happen. This is what happened to me and I was having the same exact problem. If that checks out ok get a battery charger hooked up and see if it will spin over then. Slim

The battery charger is on it now and its doing the same thing. Also my cases are polished so I know its getting a good connection there, but I will double check it just incase.
Thanks.

Damn Ward I hope you start having good luck with rappy. Anyway it sounds like the decompression pin is stuck or broken.
