I was wondering if a 350 pound guy sits on a quad if the air pressure goes up??

Fat guys should hook up better, but then they have to overcome more resistence. Is there a forula that says every 25 lbs is a HP?

Im a big guy, not near 350 though.

I do run more air pressure but I flat out hook up. Especially on the soft coal hills of PA when my lighter brothers stay on top and spin I can move my weight around to adjust traction alot easier. I mainly run more pressure to keep from pinching the tire against the rim on rocks.

There is a saying about weight = hp but I dont know it off hand.

For every 10lbs a rider outweighs the next it is a 1.5 hp loss.

150lbs - 250lbs is a 15 hp loss to the fat guy.

Lets say both the fat guy and the thin guy are on 400EXs. And lets say each 400EX weighs 400 pounds with fluids, and puts out 25 HP at the rear wheels. So the thin guy plus quad weighs 400 + 150 = 550 pounds. This gives him 550/ 25 = 22 pounds per horsepower. Fat guy plus quad; 400 + 250 =650 pounds. This gives him 650/ 25= 26 pounds per horsepower. So for the fat guy to get to 22 pounds per horsepower like the thin guy has, he would need 650/ 22 = 29.545 horsepower. To put it another way the fat guy would only need about 4.5 horsepower more in mods to equal the thin guy on the stock 400EX. Granted, in this example I have not included any increases for wind resistance or higher frictional loses and higher rolling resistance which the fat guy would also experience, but still no way near a 15 horsepower disadvantage.

Redbaron, It's rude to talk jibberish to strangers.

I'm 6'1" 235lbs, and I've never been beat so bad by somebody who weighed less than me and rode the same kind of machine as me.....I've raced guys with other stock raptors when mine was stock who weighed at least 50 or more lbs less than me and I've never been so bad that I attributed my weight for the loss. I was probably beat cuz they were better riders than I was or they got a better start off the line, but I seriously doubt it was my weight...
