Default Chain size for +4 .... help

To ensure I got the right length I just bought a 120 and shortened it accordingly.....saves some grief.

Yep - I chose (cut) a length that will give me plenty of adjustment if it stretches. Figured the longer chain would be more likely to stretch. So far the Sidewinder Ti-moly chain hasnt needed adjusted yet in 6 months. Make sure you dont get it too tight. The +4 will encourage more overall wheel travel and in compression the chain tightens a lot more than normal. I've been running it a little looser than the book says and it's working well. Check the slack when compressing and lifting the rear to find the best tension. At full lift it gets pretty sloppy so compromise.

I went with a 120 link as well and cut as necessary. Good advise Fischer.

so you must have liked the way you could launch out of the hole on my raptor as opposed to a stock swingarm, big difference isnt it.are you also going to have some motor work done soon?i am in the process of deciding on what compression to run on my new piston. i am going to get a cam and a higher comp piston with probably 12:1 and i may change my pipe as well.i think with these changes i should do pretty good against some of the faster two strokes.remember to stiffen the spring up a bit after you get your swingarm extended because even with your light weight you will find that your suspension will probably be too soft for hitting whoops at high speed.let us know how the swingarm works for you.

Ya duneitt your bike is gonna cost me alot of money. Right now Im doing the easy stuff first then gonna work on the motor a little while later. I just polished my side cases, oil tank, and swingarm to save some money up for the motor instead of payin for someone to do it. Im on my way thought so watch out lol PS headin to florence the last weekend of october I think ... can you make it? Got some competition for ya too, built 400ex with NOS. Should be a pretty quick bike

it all costs money but its good clean fun .i have a friend with a 440 ex that has just added an fcr carb to his quad that could probably give that honda a pretty good run.i may be able to make it the last weekend in october but it all depends on how soon i can fill my deer tag this year.i may have my raptor built up by then and if i do i would be able to see how much better it could do against yours at that time.as i said before i probably lost a couple of quad lengths by going with the wrong gearing the day you rode my raptor but it still did pretty good.just let me know when exactly you will be going in october and me and the wife will try to make it.

Yep its all money but lots of fun. Sounds like you know a pretty fast 400ex besides your wifes. I hope you get your motor built up so I can see what it will do. Ill PM you when it gets closer with the exact dates. By the way isnt your swingarm plus 4? If so what size chain do you got on it. Trying to get everyones opinions
