If Yamaha could sell them for 10 grand, they would. Selling price has nothing to do with cost, it is set by what the market will bear. It shouldn't mean jack to you if it costs 1 grand or 6 grand to build. You want to buy one, buy one. If nobody buys, the price drops. If they can't make money at the discounted price, they quit making them.

When a company is saddled with machines they can't make money on, nobody pays them extra out of the goodness of their heart. They dump them and hopefully don't go Cannondale. The law of economics will always win, and nothing you ever do will change that.

You kids that sit there and whine about "profit" as a dirty word have bought the modern liberal propoganda and are now good little mind-numbed socialists. Prepare to be led by the nose through life by demagogues.

trx250bob,
I should have been a little more specific. Selectors 450 is lighter than my brother in laws 250R.
Sorry
Shady, You are so right, profit is a good thing, we want these guys to make cash.

Blater, when people say 7400 for the price they mean OTD (out the door) which is what the consumer actually pays after all taxes and fees are applied. Unless you are lucky enough to live in or near a state with no sales tax you will most likely pay over 7 grand for your YFZ. Mine was bought for 6750... after tax it was a bit over 7300.

My only complaint now that I've gotten used to my YFZ is that I find myself wanting to join the local racing association and dive into a definite money pit =) Is too much of a good thing a bad thing?

My initial complaint after the first couple of rides faded away as I got used to it. It was nothing really... just that super hot header pipe. I didn't wear my boots when I took it out the first time to test it out... and I was surprised by the heat. I always wear my riding boots now and have no problems.

The seat is very comfortable to me, I was worried about it before buying due to the large number of complaints... (I think most the people that complain about the seat have never actually sat on it and just repeat what they hear) but was pleasantly surprised at how much I actually prefer the seat over a banshee or warrior type soft seat.

Only durability issues I've had are due to rolling it and not typical wear and tear... I had to have the front suspension adjusted after I knocked it out of whack... but didnt have to buy any parts. I also broke the left rear fender loose from its mount to the frame in the same accident. Other than that no difficulties.... oh wait just one... I have the white plastic model and its somewhat stained on the sides where my legs rub due to the red Oklahoma dirt. I've tried scrubbing it and blasting it at the car wash but it never fully comes clean... I guess thats the price for having a white quad. Yes, I am sorta compulsive about cleaning my YFZ after I ride it

Amen, Selector,
BTW I wanted to comment on all those who say its expensive.
YOU HAVE TO PAY TO PLAY!!!!!!!
I can almost gaurantee that dollar for dollar, Selectors quad would put the hurt on just about anything out there, on the track on the strip or on the sand.
If you don't want to pay for fun , you need to get into something else.

Try straight Clorox bleach on a white rag. Rub, rub, rub. Sucks a ton of stuff out of the white plastic.

soft scrub works real good on white also. we use it on white S-10 bumpers. on the plastics parts to get them back to white once they start fading to yellow.

Not sure what that was about or who it was directed to but the fact remains that In houston if I buy a quad I pay msrp. In Mississippi I get it for many hundreds of dollars cheaper. By the above logic I am a fool if I don't want the best price and am now a mind-numbed socialist. Sorry but I have to say the above statement is fact. I like making a profit just as much as the next man, but I don't like being bent over and raped by DEALERSHIPS.

I dont believe proffit is a bad word, I believe severe overcharging is. Like the fact that if you put together a cheap lil warrior out of OEM parts they would charge you around 30 grand. If you want to call your own rape by a nicer name and justify it for the rapist, you go ahead...
