Default Just 11:1 piston?

Has anyone gone with just an 11:1 piston and an aftermarket exhaust? I'm toying with the option of going with an aftermarket cam later, but for now I would be running just the aftermarket exhaust and 11:1 Piston. I know its going somewhat half a$$ed, but I was curious if anyone has this setup and what they thought of it? Also where are you guys getting your JE/Wiesco 11:1 pistons from? All Ive found is Alba, but all they offer on the website is the 12:1. Thanks in advance.

You can get the piston from Craycraft.

Thanks sixsixT. Will the piston and exhaust alone improve performance any in your opinion?

The piston is going to give you more low end grunt, the raptor has enough already IMO.

If your'e going to the expense of the piston and exhaust, might as well do the cam while your'e in the engine, why tear down twice, I don't think the cam is that big of a expense. If I was doing it and couldn't afford the cam yet, I would wait till the extra money became available to do it. Kinda like eating mashed potates without gravy or cookies without milk. As to your original question, it will give more low end, but like sixsixT said , has enough already, the reason you do a piston after the cam is get your low end back.

I take it you also installed the cam, which complements the piston, I think he was referring just to a piston and exhaust mod, I could be wrong.

yep, sorry.

But I have also been told that the cam really doesn't do much on an unported head.

I don't know much about the porting or non-porting effect on the cam, but again, it just seems to me that it would go hand in hand. Piston, Cam, Port N' Polish.

I'm looking at the same kinda thing and I've got an email off to Bob at Craycraft. Hopefully he will be able to shed some light on the subject and let us know what the deal is. I have a hard time spending $1600 on engine mods when I still need to upgrade my suspension!! Hopefully this is the trick!
