Default yfz hesitates?

This is the exact reason my best friend bought a Raptor instead of a YFZ. It just does not carburate very well. Fine for a race machine, which it is, but not too great for trail/motorcross/all around machine.

I wonder if this is the reason why Honda did not put the FCR carb on the trx450r? Use a carb that will perform well everywhere, and for those who are going to race then they can upgrade to the FCR on thier own. Just thinking outload. Honda usually is on the conservitive side of things, especially when it comes to quads.

I agree w/Ridley - doesn't sound like something that would keep me from buying one (not in the market anyways lol)

Also sounds like he says, a big carb on a small motor. Go put a 750 double pumper on a 327 and slam the throttle and you'll see how it works. Same idea.

And don't let them tell you that it is a 4-stroke problem. That is BS. Slam the throttle on my Wolv - if you are expecting hesitation it will buck you off the back.

G'day guys.
Only happens in the garage not when you are riding it.
And good luck to those who choose a bike based on its garage performance.

Geoff.

Unfortunately it doesn't only happen in the garage. As I said earlier it will sputter and die even when driving around in 1st or 2nd gear. It's not enough of a problem to make me rethink my decision to buy the yfz. However it is pretty frustating because it makes it impossible to lug it at all.
Imagine your trail riding and you come upon some riders who aren't zipping thru the woods. You patiently wait for your chance to pass them and when you get that chance you hammer the throttle (since you are riding the "meanest factory race quad ever produced" ) only to have that "race quad" sputter and die like a piece of crap. This makes for some nice comments, like "how much did you pay for that" and "they told you that's just the way it is?" Of course you just start it back up and make them eat dust. But I still don't think it should happen.

Tuna
Mate if it is lugging along then you will allways have a problem going w.o.t
Try going down a gear and the motor will be reving higher and will be ready to go past your mates on its back wheels, or just ride the clutch for that quick rev increase.

Good luck, Geoff.
