Go get an empty coffee can, put a 1/2" bolt in it and shake it for just a split second. That's the same sound I heard before my YFZ seized Saturday morning. That's the reason I expressly had my dealer do all the mods on the machine. Let's see how Yamaha stands behind their 6-month warranty now. I truly don't expect any problems, but I'm ready to get loud if needed.
The worst part was that Friday evening, I was running the valley @ Sand Mountain faster than ever with my latest gearing/tire combo and was stoked for Saturday morning!
Oh well - we're lucky to have problems like these!

My guess is your screwed. Although, you say your dealer installed the piston? retarded your cam 1 tooth? If so, they may or may not help you out. Did they re jet it for you as well? Yamaha won't touch it. Your dealer may stand behind you though. I hope so.
Not to mention you're running with no fan.

The dealer did EVERYTHING. I'm not worried about it. What I am worried about is having them find replacement parts quickly. I had to get the 13:1 piston from another dealer in the first place and bring it to them.
I think it will be an interesting process nevertheless.

I know exactly how you feel man, 2 hours into our ride at Kentucky Lake (7 hour drive) my tranny failed. Climbing hills SUCKS without second, especially there. Rode there for another 2 days without it.

Oh No!!!
Heck that even hurts me. And Ty's gonna be crushed. I hope the dealer helps you out here, as it's never anything small when you hear "that" sound.
You could borrow my LT if you lived closer.
