Default Opinions on 21 or 22 inch tires up front needed

Does anyone have any input on how different 21's or 22's perform and what the general reasoning is behind going smaller or bigger up front (since it doesnt affect your gearing like the rears do ).

The stock fronts on the YFZ are 21's but I have some 22 inch Razr fronts that I have contemplated using.

I actually put 23's on the front of my Predator. It gives me just a little more clearance, and didn't affect the ride or handling at all, at least to me. I don't race mine, so I don't know if it would affect that or not. But I sure wouldn't think it would.

Well I hung out at a OCCRA (Oklahoma Cross Country) event over the weekend and I have contemplated getting into the beginner's class. So there is a possibility I could race in the future but I'm currently just a recreation rider... I tend to ride a variety of MX and CC ... no sand as of yet.

Benefits of the 22" would be the added ground clearance. Downfalls would be that the taller sidewall you have on a tire the more shoulder roll(tire tuck) you will get. Will it be noticeable? Depends how hard of a corner you are. I don't think it'd be that big of a deal, and if you already have them you might as well use them. My father inlaw went to 23" fronts on his 250x and he says that he gets shoulder roll real bad now. Although in the X's defense he's a 200lbs man on a bike designed for smaller less experienced people that is 11yrs old.
