It don't hurt to be optimistic...

Well, Yamaha will "good will" me a crank assembly, but the dealer must install it as opposed to me just going in and picking it up and taking it to my builder. The dealer (South Valley Motorsports in Draper, Utah) won't stand behind a thing. Kind of **** poor business since now I'll never buy another machine from them - period. Did I expect them to front all the labor when I broke the motor? No, but in my business, (construction) you meet your clients somewhere. This is the first bike I've ever broken so the experience is new. A hidey hoe and an f/u to South Valley Motorsports. I still maintain the issue was at the pin - right where they're tech was when the machine was new.
Anyway I've already got the parts coming from Bob @ Magnolia Tracktor (1-877-243-3337) back east. I'm saving over $500. dealing w/ him versus the dealer.
The bike will come out as a ported 467 (98mm x 62mm). I've already got the piston. The dings in the cylinder ain't no problem, +3mm will fix that. Plating will be done @ Millennium, etc.

Chalk another one up to Yamaha sliding on responsibility. The way the dealer and the manufacture deal with each other is a concern.
Selector, I am happy for you, you came out better than I expected, but they still are giving you the hard one! That should be all fixed free of charge, whether its the dealer paying or Yamaha, thats not your problem, the dealer is the representative for Yamaha, in out case as the customer, they are Yamaha. They should offer to give you the parts and let you take a credit on the labor to install the crank. You should be able to take it somewhere else.
Salt Lake Crappy shops: Plaza Cycle and I guess now, South Valley!

WHAT THE HELL is up with the dealerships here?!?! They all suck @$$!! The only dealership I've heard semi-decent things about doesn't even sell yamaha.
I think if you were to start up a dealership here in slc that was CUSTOMER SERVICE oriented, you'd shut all these crap holes down!

Thats a million dollar idea
"Customer Service Yamaha"
Just think how many hits an internet site would get...especially if you included the words "bad" "lemon" "get bent"
"cause here at Customer Service Yamaha we take pride in taking your money..."

I'm specifically talking about dealerships, yamaha, honda whatever they're all ********* here who treat customers like 2nd class citizens. Plaza's sales at least are nice, until they hook you and then they don't care about you. My expirience with S. Valley is that their sales are dicks, their parts are dicks, and their service dept. was ok. Mtn High seemed to be helpful, but I only went their for accessories, I think they only sell Polaris and Kawasaki.

Sorry too hear about the misfortune there Selector. Yamaha's representative installs the parts and the machine fails with no-doubt few hours on it.....and we knew the rest before you posted. 01 Raptor owners know all too well the "Yamaha" mentality towards their customers. Let this be another reason not too buy a Yamaha.

I went and picked the bike up. They couldn't find it within themselves to at least offer to pick up the labor to tear into the motor. Guy spends in excess of $14k and gets diddly. Needless to say, the selector got a little pissed at that point. I'll say this much... everyone in the servcie/prep area knew I was there at that point.
I think I'm going to drop the "se" and just go by "lector" cause I was about to eat that **** service manager. tututututu
