Default YFZ450 tune up

Hi guys and gals....new to the site.

I bought the YFZ about a month ago and it's time to take it in for the 8 or 10 hour check up (tune up). I've never bought an ATV new so I've never taken one in for a tune up. I've had plenty of sport bikes and have always done the tune-up myself. Is it necessary to have the dealership jack me out of a couple hundred bucks or would anyone recommend doing it myself?

I'd say do it yourself unless something was wrong with it....save yourself the dough and buy a new exhaust with it....IMO

Do it yourself. I just did mine took bout 30 minutes. Dont let the dealer take 150-200 bucks from you for a 30 minute job. Here's the yamaha filter #5ta-13440.

I DONT RIDE FAST I JUST FLY LOW!

Guys thanks for the responses....I spoke to the dealership and they said they adjust lifters with the tuneup...I've never heard of needing to adjust lifters on the first tune up. Does anyone know exactly what is done for the first tune-up so I know if there still just trying to jack me out of some dough....Thanks in advance guys.

They probably don't need to be adjusted just yet...I'm sure they were talking about adjusting the valves.....I usually adjust mine after every 15 hours or so..or at least I try to every 15 hours...I've never taken my quad to be tuned by the shop so I don't what they would do on a first tune-up...I'm guessing not much and charge you a crap load for it...

Or even if you have the desire to have mechanical know-how.
