My bad on the alum frame. Chevy? What does that have to do with quads? I LOVE pushrod V8's! Torque up the A$$! But were talkin bout quads here, if chevy put an overhead cam in the corvettes they would rev so much higher and quicker, but thats not what you want or need out of a corvette, you want the torque baby! Quads on the other hand you want the quick revs and high rpms, a torquie one cylinder engine in a high performance quad is useless unless your slappin it in a 4wd! JMO on the pushrod topic. But ya...I could care less if the 450R beats the YFZ cause I KNOW my Rappy with beat them both. I just think the YFZ is way more advanced.

 

Yamaha YZF450 - Higher compression, longer travel, 2-cams+5 valves, 350 lbs with elec start.
Honda CRF450 - 11 more cc's, bigger carb, 1 cam + 4 valves, 350 lbs w/no elec start, holds more gas.

I don't like the 2 separate oil changes on the Honda (one for engine, one for transmission). Time will tell which one is best. My gut feeling is the Yamaha right now. I have this impression that Honda put a new motor in an old design frame. We will see.

 

the trx450r is gonna be a joke just like the 400ex...

 

Cannondales don't matter anymore? I will be honored to spank the piped/jetted versions of both bikes this summer with my 'Dale. Also, my 'Dale came with Ohlins front and rear, nerfs, tether, number plates - who's quad is "race ready" ? The 'Dales were doing just fine at the track out of the box against the "homemade" versions of both of these bikes before the manufacturers finally stepped up to the plate and made them. What makes you think they will do any better now?

Just my .02 - both should be very nice quads and it's about time the big boys stepped it up a notch.

 

All you guys are talking $hit about the 450R and it isn't even out yet. You don't know how well it will preform or not. All I got to say is I'm going to love it when it kicks the YFZ's a$$, maybe that will shut some of you yami riders up!

My friend has a yfz and I personaly like the quad alot. It has good suspension and hauls a$$. I just don't understand how people can talk $hit about the 450R when it's not even out yet. Once it comes out if it sucks then start bashing.

 

Well, I think people are speculating on how it will perform based on it's specs compared to the yfz's specs.

 

Thats what I'm doing...the YFZ looks way better on paper! Your ignorant if you don't think that.
