Who has insurance on their Yamaha?

I wouldn't let anybody tell you that your quad is covered under homeowners insurance. If they do, tell them you want it in writing and have them personally sign the policy right in front of you. My Warrior was covered under homeowners in '97 and then the insurance company changed the rules in '98. They said that if the insurance company sells insurance for your type of vehicle, for example motorcycles or ATV's, then you have to have that insurance and home owners won't cover it. Even if the atv was being stored, up on blocks with all 4 wheels taken off, it won't be covered.
Of course I learned this after the garage I kept my wheeler in was broken into and I lost my Warrior, my girlfriends Trailblazer (less than 6 months old) and my friends Quadsport. Insurance said "sorry, you didn't have ATV insurance. You don't get a penny" This was a $10,000 mistake to not have insurance. Finally saved up enough money to buy my Raptor in Dec 2000. My girlfriend who is now my wife still doesn't have one. Hopefully soon though.
This was a hard lesson to learn! My advice: It doesn't matter how much the insurance costs, YOU NEED IT!! Unless you have $4000 - $6000 sitting in the bank waiting for that fateful day when you open your garage and your pride and joy is gone, get some insurance.

I have Full coverage with Progessive and I'm 47 with a clean driving record but I live Calif. I think that is why mine is so high $289.00 a year.
