Considering the problems with the Grizzley, would you buy another one?

Ok, my buddy next door owns a '03 Grizzley 660, and has his share of problems:
1) Boiling Gas
2) Hitch ripping lose
3) Front CV joints busting
4) Floor boards ripping loose
I was thinking of a last year model for the wife, but quite frankly, His problems have really made me re-think that decision. I've rode it, and I was super happy with the power/ride/handling, but these chronic, reappearing problems concern me.
He says Yamaha won't be his next model, and 2 guys on his hunting trip that were considering Grizzleys have decided against them.
Would you buy another one?

Yes, I would still consider buying one. EVERY quad has one problem or another....hehe..No quad is perfect!
Actually..now you would know what to look for and prevent them, or maybe he bought a bad one lol.
I really like them. That is the main reason why I say I would still consider it.

well I know the 2004 models are a little better...the gas doesnt boil. His problems could be just with his machine, I havent really heard of that many problems with the 2003 model. I have rode a few of them and I think they are soo awesome. I would definately buy one, but only with a warranty. If you want to buy one, make sure you look it over REALLY good before handing the money over. Good luck!

Only problem I have had was trying to swim in 6 feet of water. Other than that, I change the oils and tighten bolts every now and again. I have had no problems that I haven't caused.

I love my 2000 Kodiak, and other than recently burning up CDIs it has been great. I have several hunting partners who have bought Grizzleys of various years. I have heard of carb problems, the broken hitches (2 broken hitches 30 miles from the nearest road made for a long haul out; our normal everyday riding up here can be considered extreme for most of the US) and other minor problems. Hopefully Yamaha has the bugs worked out by now.
Warrior68man is right, at least you know what to watch out for.

not even a majority of Grizz's had those problems. No one I have personally talked to that has a Grizz has had those problems. I haven't either (not saying it doesn't happen)
So, yes, I would buy another one in a heartbeat!

I haven't really had any problems with mine, and it was one of the first 02 models. Now that I see that the 650 AC doesn't have a great top end, I would have to go Grizzly again if I was buying right now.

I had no problems with mine, and would buy another! When you consider how many of these atvs are sold, and the thousands of people that haven't had any problems, it really makes the choice to buy another easy. Also the Grizzley seems to be the # 1 choice in which other atv owners compare theirs to, whether its to bash it, or praise it. That in its self says it all.
