Wolvy Warrior
#1
I've got a '96 Wolvy that is going through somewhat of a transformation. I bought it for $700 bucks with the head shot and put a warrior head on it. Found out then that the carb was totally shot and bought a carb from an '89 Warrior. The head that was put on, I was told had bigger valves than the head that was on it. Will this carb workout alright for me or do I need to find something else. Also for you Wolvy guys, what kind and size tires would be best for riding in woods and mud (play riding)? Also what are some of the mods that will help other than pipes. Thanks for your help.

Hound Dog,
Yeah, everything is stock. The person that had it before me did not notice that the oil pump had stopped working. DOH! Sooooooo, why not just keep adjusting the valves to get rid of the noise. What a D.A.! Anyways, to make a long story short it messed the head all up beyond repair so I'm working with what I can and trying to get the most power and performance that I can. Just making it into something to play with. Thanks for the reply!

If memory serves me correctly, the carb from a warrior was used on the 95 wolverines.. I have one and it is identical (less jet sizes) to the one I had on my 92 warrior. Anyway, they chaned them either in 96 or 97 so that they could give the wolverine a bit more low end grunt. The carb you purchased should work just fine, open up the airbox a little and you will get the grunt they were after. As for the head, unless someone modified the head you purchased, ie, it is not stock, it is the same part number for both the wolverine and the warrior... so, direct replacement.
As for other mods besides pipe, try an aftermarket high flow air filter, talk with some others about opening up the airbox a bit, a cam helps, and if you wanna go extreme, call Mickey Dunlap @ Four Stroke Tech. He'll get you making double the horses.
As for tires, I run a set of Maxxix Sure Trax or All Trax.. I can't remember for sure. They are a great all around tire but they are 2 inches taller which draws from the low end grunt. More than likely you will be fine.
Ride on.

Ive had 2 oil pumps quit on me, stopped before it got fried this last time though. The valves didnt really get any louder because I had a big ol cam that required them to have some play and already he loud as heck. A bigger or better flowing carb will give it more top end and make it want to rev more. I had a 36 lectron flatslide on mine and it felt about perfect.
