Default Upgrades for 2001 Warrior

I have a 2001 Warrior that is bone stock and am looking at upgrading intake and exhaust for some more gitty-up-n-go. Right now I am looking at the Big Gun Quiet series exhaust (on the dunes I'm limited to 92 decibles) and putting in a stock replacement K&N filter. The dunes I ride are on the coast (Oregon) and I will do some trail riding too (ballpark of about 3000 ft maximum). Any suggestions or feedback would be appreciated. Also, do I need to re-jet? Will I need to re-jet for the two different environs? Should I just leave it stock?

Thanks for your help.

hey i aint got no idea about dunes but i ride mostly trails. i have a 03' and i just put a FMF power bomb pipe and a maxll slincer on it. with a jet kit it runs great it almost feels like it has dubbled in power. i got a 150 jet and i aint got no baffles or spark arester on it i think it might be a bit louder than 92 db. i dont know how it will do in dunes but the raptors and cr250 i ride with cant keep up in the trails.

Okay here's what i've done.

White Brothers e-series w/quiet core (this muffler has tunable discs and seems to be the most popular among warrior owners) leave the headpipe..it's fine. aftermarket will give minimul gains...if any.

Pro Design: foam filter

motoforce airbox lid: clear airbox lid with two large vents for increased air flow.

tourque stuffer: increases low end...but you lose some top end

Dial-a-jet: i think this product is ideal for you. it's a tunable jet that gets in stalled in the carb boot a inch or two before the carb. it has about six settings. when you go to hegher or lower altitude. you simmply back off a small screw...and turn the dial one or two clicks. throttle response is crisper and more responsive. they call it, "the poor mans fuel injection".

Yeah, I've heard the same about the stock header pipe .. it's fine util you get up beyond the 435cc big-bore kits .. Have a good look at it and compare it to the one on a 300ex .. it's a big o'l header.

I'm using an FMF powercore IV with spark arrestor and about to do the following:

K & N Filter
Airbox Lid Mod
Rejet to 150 - 155 (I'm well under 3k feet so I'm thinking of going for 150) stock is 145.
12T front sprocket for more gumption off the line.

Hope that helps a bit

Kuz28 - the torque stuffer has no effect on top end power.

nope...i felt like i lost some top end...no much...but enough that i noticed. and i felt like i lost some due to the quiet-core. the dial-a-jet seemed to give me some of what i lost back. it's tough to give you specifics when you don't have a Dyno.

i will say my low end is nice and tourgey. i run 22" ITP XCT's and the warrior spins them nicely and it's able to break em free for sliding in the corners. overall. it is faster top end and low end now. but i notice more low end gains.

the one thing i have'nt begun to do is tune the muffler with the discs. to busy building up the Raptor. and the wife has more than she needs in the warrior right now.
