I can ride my raptor very aggresively through trails and on MX i think im pretty good for a non widened, stock tired, raptor. But i know i really dont know any technique on a bike and quads and bikes are two different beasts. Im admitting that. Theres no disputing im a newbie. I was just telling about my experience on my friends 200 to let u know that i get comfortable on dirtbikes pretty quickly compared to other people so its not like im going to be as oblivious as someone that wants to know why u lean when u turn. I dont want something so powerful that a slight mistake on my part and the a$$ ripping power of the engine just throws me off the bike. I DO KNOW, that especially on a bike, its easier for power to overpower you and the bike.

Dont know if i said it before but ive seen someone crash a pw80 because he was doing wheelies and his wrist made the throttle get stuck and it shot him forward until he crashed. (he knows to stay off bikes now)

the YZ250r seems like a good bike. Supposadely it can keep up with a 125? If this is true then i know a 125 isnt something u will definately grow out of. Plenty of adults use 125's as worthy bikes in racing. ITs not like there kiddie bikes. thanks for all the help.

 

Get what you want - 250/4 or 450/4 - just be smart.

i own a 125 yam and dude riding quads and dirtbikes is the diffence between night and day, a dirtbike is alot faster than a quad..no doubt about it, id say if u were gonna get your first dirtbike that u should go with a smaller bike not a 450..lol too much power, for a beginner rider that bike will hurt u. So id either go with a 125 according to how much u weigh and heigh etc. but if u want you could either go with a 2 stroke 250, or a 250F i think that the 2 strokes have way more power than a 4 stroke. they run 450Fs in 2 stroke 250 classes, if that gives u an idea on power

 

If you want a race bike get a YZ or a CR, but they won't be fun on the trails IMO. I would get more of an Enduro style bike. If I were in your shoes I would buy a KTM 200 EXC or a 300 EXC. The 300 EXC is rock solid and is one of the most dependale bikes ever built. IMO, the 300 EXC is the best bike on the market for what it's designed to do (Enduro/Trail Ride) Compare the quality of a KTM vs. all of the other bikes and you'll see what I mean.
