I got a IMS shifter and when I installed it I could not shift into reverse b/c it would hit my frame. Is this normal?

 

IMS steel shifter? I have that one and didn't have this problem. I would think the bend is wrong or somthing. It shouldn't do that. The only thing different other than the obvious from stock is, it's about 1/4" shorter than the stocker from the edge of the foot peg to the shifter.
