New school quads versus old school? What's better?

i dont think that you can compare the two... two stroke vs four stroke..its really a tough call... i loved my 88 trx250r.. speed and style... but my raptor has cool stuff to... its so hard to decide best.. but i wish my raptor did some of the stuff the 250R could do and visa versa.. soo no winner here...

Wait a minute...When did I get so old that the stuff I grew up with is old school? I feel like Will Farrell from the movie of the same name, trying to be cool hanging out on my Tri-Z with all these kids on their Raptors. Give it to me straight, am I really that old? On the up side, I'm old enough that I have enough money to build up my old school bikes to beat anything the kids could show up with. Except my bones don't heal as fast. Maybe I should just get an old Big Red.

There is something about a 2-stroke Powerband trying to rip your hands off the bars with the front tires off the ground and the rear tires shooting rocks 15ft at your buddy or someone that happens to be chassing you with a flashing light. I rode a really nice 400ex and i pin the gas and it just feels like somethings missing and that I'm waiting for something and nothing happens. Sorry guys I'll keep and collect every 2 stroke I can get my hands on

You're right man. I was riding with my friend and his dad -- both of them on new Z400s. I had my Tecate-4 and was riding in the middle. We were going through the woods and every time I'd hit that powerband I'd cover his dad with mud. Roostin' like 20ft. It was great.

All I know are 4-strokes. The YFZ is a good machine as are the other HP 4-strokes. Who knows what the future holds for these buggies. Will these things have perf parts like the shee in (5) years or so? I just wish I could make mine sound like a built, "toomeyed" shee.

New School, Put a pipe , K&N, lid off, rejet, and 91 pump gas, push the magic button and your gone. Do that to a new 450 and you have more power than a built "old school" you are always wrenching on.

Do exactly what you said to the 4 to a Banshee or Quadzilla and you stand no chance (I'm guessing you call the magic button Nitrous). Ok yeah if your talking racing a 1 mile plus track yeah you will eventually catch up and win but most people race 1/4 mile or less and you won't stand a chance against a build 2-Stroke. If you properly take care of a 2-stroke they are just as reliable as a 4-stroke don't care what anyone says, sorry And yes I am always wrenching on my Banshee so that I know that the repairs and maintenance are done properly. I see your pictures show the joys of valves, well you can keep your valves and your 2 extra strokes. Sorry I get heated when people say 2strokes are unreliable

Michiganredneck- Yes, you're old but by todays standards anyone is old if they don't wear the latest clothing or know the latest popular song. You know you're old when hair starts growing out your ears.
