reverse light stays on
#1
Why would my reverse light always stay on?
I had a little electrical glich today, the starter shorted out, but no biggie. But now My reverse light stays on all the time.
I'm not saying this caused it, just that it happend.
Any ideas???

Ward I've had mine stay on for a while after going out of reverse. I've never figured out what causes it, but it usually goes back off if I go into reverse and back to 1st again. I am currious as to what causes this as well.

I tried switching into reverse and back...it didn't help. I haven't used reverse on my bike for many, Many months now.
I just hope its really the reverse light and not I put the wrong light in the reverse holder

Well, you should be able to tell that...
Put it in neutral and see if the neutral light comes on.
Put it in reverse and make sure (no extra lights) come on.
That would only leave the overheat light, and if its doing it all the time it shouldn't be that. (unless your bike starts up REALLY hot!) LOL

The green white wire from the CDI goes down toward the back left of the tank, where there is a plug. It then goes with the reverse lead down the left footpeg frame rail. underneith the sprocket to the sensor. (the one thats pushed on, neutral is the phillips one)
IF anything happens to the green white wire the CDI will sense there is no current flow and turn on the reverse light by grounding the blue wire at the CDI. So technically if the blue wire is grounded or pinched somewhere else the light will be lit but more than likely something happened to the green/white striped wire or the sensor itself. (my sensor is bad, the light has been on over a year)
Just be glad you dont have an 02-04. the dang limiter would be on

Thanks alot 007!!! That makes sense now. I just changed my one way out and had to pull that wire off for room to work my shifter around.
Its an easy fix for once.
Thanks!!!!
