my mechanic has worked on his two 250rs since he bough them new in the late 80's........he does all of his own work short of bor'ing the cylinder......

he had my piston the whole time........JE called for .003 clearence and he made it have .0052.........he fessed up and fixed it....I don't guess I can be had at him........accidents happen.....
but he is also the same person that ordered me the wrong gasket.....

I know exactly what you mean.......that is the same as my stealership.........
I just go in there (when it is still in waranty) and tell them what part I needed.........and I put it on.......

The recommended clearance is PER INCH OF BORE FOR THE JE PISTON. The Rap has real close too a 4" bore. You should be around .016-.018. Give him a call

what is a 'cfm drop kit'? unless I'm misunderstanding this, why would you want to lower the cfm?

And don't forget to have the rings file fitted in the bore to the proper clearance, JE rings are a little tight and the ends need to be filed some, or they will butt and you can break the rod.

My mechanic did that for me yesterday..........
the gasket came in today so MAYBE I will have it tonight.......I don't see what it will help considering I have class tonite....but I could sleep in the garage with it or something.......[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

the drop kit lowers the front of the quad........(cfm is the manufacturer)
