I dont think it will make it run rich. All the K&N filter does is let more air into the motor as long as the carbs are jetted for the pipe it should be alright. I dont see why it could make it run rich. I wouldnt be surprised if there was not a dust film on your tubes. If you run the K&N filter put a foam outerwear on it. That will help keep some of the dust out. If you ride were there is alot of dust. I trail ride and if I ride behind someone I know my intake tubes on my warrior were coated with dust.

I dont know if you guys dont oil the K&N or whats going on, but Ive had my filter since day one and have only cleaned it once. I have never seen any dust in my intake boots and have not had any problems with the filter no fitting right. I just cleaned my airbox and it was DIRTY and Im sure my K&N didnt let any of it pass by. The filter is filthy right now and I will just tap it all around put it back in, Ive heard that the dirtier the filter, the better it filters! I had a K&N in my 2000 Silverado and now have it in my 2003 Sierra, never had a problem and I only cleaned the filter 1-2 times.

I'm another happy K&N user...I run a filter skin on it and have no troubles at all with dirt in the intake tracts.
I ride in anything from wet trails to sand and gravel pits. Been running a K&N for over three years now with nothing more than my normal ring replacement every couple of seasons.

I too have had NO problems with my k&n filters.......
I had been running my k&n without cleaning for about 3 months.....I took it off last week to install the sixsixT adaptor and I looked at the inside of the tubes just out of curiousity and they were clean.......
no problems yet.....
