Weak starter gears in Yamaha 98 big Bear
#1
The gears dug into my engine and i had to put in new block. The same thing happened again but this time i caught it soon enough to save my new block. does anyone know who to call a Yamaha to get some $$$$. i could relly use it. It wasnt my fault their parts aren't strong enough

I heard from my local tire dealer that his Bear blew a chunk out of the block due to starter problems. He said that he contacted others looking for a new block and they said that it was a fairly common problem with Big Bears. Hope mine doesn't do the same. What are the symptoms??

A Grinding noise when touching the starter button or a major backfire when shuting the engine off. The gears aren't made strong enough. the second pair stripped four teeth off thank god we found them all when we opened it up. I'm getting rid of this yamahahaha-ha all ya hafta do it fix the piece of sh*T.

Man,
you need to talk to BigBear4x4.. Nathan... his just got out of the shop for that.. Seems I remember him saying something about that happening, and that Yamaha had some obligation to repair it at a discount/free parts rate.. Don't quote me, but i've heard something to that affect..
