Default 102mm piston cause starter problems??

since i went up to the 102mm my starter has had trouble turning over.............but once it does the motor will bust right off and run like a dream................
I know it isn't the battery cause I have charged it WELL.........and tested it on several occasions..........

it seems to get worse when the quad gets GOOD and warm..........

what could this be?

Did they put the decompression pin in the cam?
Piston to cylinder clearance may be to tight. Do you know how much clearance they gave it?

My compression pin is installed and works correctly. Mine never did it with the 11:1 standard bore but it started doing it with the 102mm 12:1. Not really sure..........

Ive never had a starting problem, or 'slow starting'...even with my 105mm 13:1 piston it started right up every time.

Yeah, with the 11.1 copression piston you should'nt have an starting issue. It may be the decompression mechanism. If your builder says he installed it you may need to recheck to see if its installed correctly. The only other thing I would say is your valves could be adjusted wrong and they have tightened up not letting your motor turn. I would check the valves and go from there before I started going back into the top end to check the decompression mechanism. I had this problem too when I adjusted my valves wrong when I first built mine the first time. Slim
