I'm trying to teach my pup (Shasta) to ride with me. She already likes to ride in the pickup and on the backhoe. I've rode her before but I had to hold her. I think I can train her to jump up on the rear rack and ride but its gonna take time. Anybodys dog rid with them? My dog Teeka rides on personal watercraft with my...she will sit on the seat, but prefers to stand in the hull like some sort of "super dog"

She would ride my quad with me if it had a front rack...she just HAS to be one step in front of me

Maybe you should make a platform for the pup to stand on (on the rack) or buy a rear gear bag with a seat. I would run one leash to each side of the rack to limit the dogs movement until he/she gets the idea. Then you won't have to hold the dog.

 

The leash is a pretty good idea thanks. I call her a pup but shes 18 monthes old and 70-80 lbs hehehehe. I got a thin pad to lay on the rack till she gets the hang of every thing. It's warming up out there so I think I'll go out and mess with her and the wheeler a little.

 

My 80# Boxer enjoys riding on my Warrior, its quite a sight! One day he decides to chase after me when I was riding in the field, so I stopped, for fear that I may run him over. As soon as I stopped, he jumps up on the seat, and gives me a look like, "lets go!" He sits in front of me, and I just make sure that my arms are on either side of him to balance him. Of course I don't ever go too fast, but on turns he actually leans with me! He enjoys riding so much that he even passes up chasing the barn cats we drive by, and he hates cats!

They make a padded doggy bed thing for the back racks of quads but I dont know any more than that, I saw it in a magazine a couple years ago. I would take some treats in your pocket, get the dog up on the back rack and give it a treat. Then give it some more a little down the trail and it will get the idea.

 

My Malamute always liked to ride in the back of my 1959 *****'s Jeep. I used the leashes for awhile because I was afraid he'd jump out. I would tie one to each side of the roll cage.

I'll have to try to take my Boxer with me sometime on my quad. She is always at the door with a sad look on her face when I leave. She also hates cats or actually anything smaller than her. She loves kicking the rabbits out of the yard and I feel sorry for the rabbits if she ever gets a hold of one.

 

Before my Golden retriever died last year, he used to love cruising on anything...if it had wheels and it was rolling, he was on it...he would sit on the very front of the seat on my quad and cruise there..it was kind of hard to see though cuz he was a really big golden...
