Default What is this part ?? 1998 Grizzly 600 question?

Hello Guys, Can somebody tell me what the part is that comes from my auto clutch, it is the tube made of rubber that looks like a bicycle tube. I can see it when I bend down in front and see it under the front rack. It looks like some sort of venting thing ,not sure, just curious. Anything someone can tell me it's purpose is great. Also it is bent and folded around my frame up front. I am thinking that if this thing needs to breath, with all the bends and twists in it, can it be working right?? I bought my bike used and just not sure what the previous owner has down to this bike before me. Thanks to all who reply,,,,Terry !

Oh,,,,,so the tube is not stock ?? So it is just a vent pipe and he probably just wanted better water protection, I am thinking. It looks like a rough job,not stock, so off it is coming,,,any other input ?,,,Thanks,,,Terry !

O.k., just to be sure, does the grizzly come with any rubber tubing at all??, I know it would have the hard black plastic tubing stock,, but, where the rubber flexibale tube is, is probably where the previous owner started his own job ?? I am correct to think that the stock plastic tube ends up high just under my front rack ?? This is driving me nuts, !!,,,Thanks Terry !

Is there any possible way you can get a picture of the belt vent?
Just follow the vent from the front of the belt housing to the end
and see where the hard tubing stops.

Thanks Electric,,,,,the hard plastic tube stops about 8" under my front right fender, then this silly looking rubbery, flacid 3" tube(looks like bicycle inner tube) is connected to the hard plastic pipe and crosses over to the left side, this is under the front plastics and not really noticeable, kinda concealed behind all the rad, shocks and stuff. I was on the ground looking in and just noticed this yesterday. The big problem is I have no manual yet. Thanks again,,,Terry !

I have problems with my stock belt venting because it lets water in and it caused a sh*t load of clutch work to clean all the mud out. This idea is awesome i think i might try to come up with somethin for my grizz.

this sounds like a jerry rig to me the stock tubing goes up to the upper frame rail. i cant picture the exact routing because i am at work and cant see it now. I would think that, that would be high enough if you have solid connections at all the joints. i had trouble keeping the one on the left side of the cover on the right side of the engine. the flange is not very long ther is an alignment notch on the top of the hose. i cut the notch 1/8" of an inch deeper and then got in there w/ my cordless and drilled 4 equal spaced holes put on some blue RTV on the flange and screwed in 4 small sheet metal screws w/ a low head and slipped the hose clamp on over them and tighten it has not come off or leaked since. thanks
