Default banshee reeds! what to do?!?

This is just a basic overview...
If your bike is basically stock, dont worry about reeds for now. The basic rule of thumb is.. More air in, more air out, go faster....
If you cant get more air out.. IE porting, pipe etc etc.. no need for the reeds.. Now if you have porting done, a pipe, upped your carbs. modified your air intake... Yes you will need better reed cages and reeds for this situation.
Now the best flow rate and set up for me was to use Mossbarger reed cages and reeds. They flow better than any other setup. Now understand, this is for my situation and my mods on my banshee... Yours maybe different. Just my .02 worth...

Check out Mossbarger and read there info and decide for yourself...

I agree...after years of trying all the different $$ brands...the stock ones seem to work the best and last the longest.

Boyesob are way to soft..they "gap" after only a few rides...at least they always did for me.

Max flow numbers isn't everything when talking about reed cages. The design of the cage can put more air where needed in the cylinder such as the V-force that distributes air to the sides of the intake port instead of directly forward. This makes the tract length longer and keeps the air velocity faster. Also the design using the 4 reeds lets them open quicker and gives better throttle response. Duncan Racing pyrimids also seem to work good.

I totally understand that changing track length/shape (through cages) will change things some...I was talking strictly replacement reeds in the stock cages.

In that regard, I find the stock ones to be the best.
But it could just be me..nobody tunes the same...nor do two bikes run the same.

I have a built ported banshee stroker, and I still use my stock reed cages. If I was going to buy a set, I would probably use V-force.

As for what Hiram said, I'm pretty sure guys don't just look over a bike and say "ooohh, man, I see you have v-force reeds, I'm not racing you" and I'm sure your not just going to flat out kill someone because you have a ported reed cage. No bashing intended.
