gearing

Well really it depends on what you want to accomplish. Going down a tooth on the front sprocket will give you more torque and decrease your top end speed. Works extremely well for my bike when I'm riding the dunes. That was one of the first mods I did to my Raptor and I also went up 2 teeth on the back sprocket.... for the minimal amount of money involved, it's a great way to increase performance depending on what kind of riding you're doing.

on your raptor when you went up two on the back sprocket what did that give you??? i have gone down on the front to a 12t and wondering if i should change my back. i ride the dunes probably 5-6 times a year in oregon!!

Well for me... the 12 tooth front didn't do quite enough for me to get it into the power like I wanted. I run a lot of the tree lines and down off the side I like to be able to get things cranked up to keep the tires spinning. Going up 2 teeth on the back sprocket is about half a tooth worth on the front. That's just approximate... you'll have to do the math to figure it out exactly.
I was running 20-10-10 9 paddle haulers with that gearing.
I recently went to 22-11-10 10 paddles and am going to go to a 46 tooth rear sprocket to start out with. If that's a little too low of gearing I'll drop it down to a 44 tooth. I figure that it's easier to shorten a chain than to lenghten it!!
Personally I don't need or really even want to go that fast top speed wise. Gearing that way will definetly slow your top speed down.
Hope this helps!!
